Nation's Steel Output Slipped 3.2% in Week

WASHINGTON -- Raw-steel production by the nation's mills decreased 3.2% in the week ended March 25, 2011 1,941,000 tons from 2,005,000 tons the previous week, the American Iron and Steel Institute said. Last week's output rose 0.8% from the 1,925,000 tons produced a year earlier. The industry used 86.7% of its capability last week, compared with 89.7% the previous week and 89.1% a year ago.
