Profit-Taking Hurts Shares

The Jakarta Stock Exchange index fell 3.220 to 549.520 as decliners outnumbered gainers by 77 to 29, with 47 shares unchanged, and 92 stocks untraded. Trading volume was 93.3 million shares, valued at 207.16 billion rupiah. Dealers said trading was dominated by locals, who sold their holdings as they were uncomfortable with the absence of foreign investors in the market. Dragging the index down, Telekomunikasi Indonesia fell 25 rupiah to 3,350 rupiah on 1.5 million shares traded, along with holding company Bimantara Citra, which dropped 125 rupiah to 2,275 rupiah on 2.7 million shares exchanged.
