CD Yields at Banks, Firms Were Mixed in Latest Week

Uptown -- Yields on certificates of deposit at major banks and brokerage firms were mixed in the week ended Tuesday. The average yield on six-month small-denomination savings CDs remained at 4.7%, according to a survey by BanxQuote Inc.. The average yield on five-year savings CDs inched higher to 5.5% from 5.49%, the Fairfield, N.J., information service said. The average yield on six-month broker-sold CDs decreased to 5.22% from 5.25%. Yields on five-year CDs also decreased to 6.1% from 6.13%, BanxQuote said. On large-denomination jumbo CDs, which typically require deposits of $95,000 or more, the average yield on a six-month certificate remained at 5.02%. On five-year jumbos, the average fell to 5.72% from 5.73%, BanxQuote said.
